Our Story

Our story began in 1977 when Jeff Bradford established Bradford’s Cleaners in Boyne City and offered both dry cleaning and coin laundry services. In 1989, Jeff purchased Hooker’s Cleaners of Charlevoix. The business was renamed Bradford’s Cleaners and operated as the main dry cleaning plant for the next fourteen years.

Jeff’s son, Bryan, joined the company in 2003 and together they purchased Alpine Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Gaylord as their second of three locations. At that time, Bryan and Jeff made the environmentally conscious decision to change dry cleaning solvents. Bradford’s installed the fourth GreenEarth Dry Cleaning machine in the state of Michigan! GreenEarth cleaning provides a safer, cleaner way to clean garments and protects the environment in the communities we serve.

As Bradford’s expanded its dry cleaning operations into other communities, it was necessary to find a larger facility as they out grew their Charlevoix location. In 2004, the Bradfords purchased Village Cleaners and Coin Laundry in Petoskey. After installing a GreenEarth dry cleaning machine in Petoskey, all dry cleanable clothing for all stores were being processed using the GreenEarth technology.

Bradford’s Cleaners textile restoration division, which was created in 2008, became part of a national franchise, CRDN, in 2010. CRDN of Northern Michigan covers Northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Garment and textile restoration services are provided to homeowners in the event of a house fire or water/mold damage to their home. We restore garments and textiles to their pre-loss condition and work closely with insurance companies.

Bryan and Jeff have grown Bradford’s Cleaners into a diversified dry cleaning, coin laundry, and textile restoration company. They also provide repairs and alterations. Bradford’s Cleaners offers many services to accommodate our customers. As a family business for over 38 years, we’ve built our reputation on quality, trust, and service.
